The Youth program uses running, mentorship, and wellness education to help Native youth build confidence, strengthen identity, and develop lifelong healthy habits.
Program goal & objectives
Strengthen and sustain a proven youth development model that equips Native youth with the skills, confidence, and support systems to lead healthy lives, build strong relationships, and grow into leaders within their communities.
Program Objective
- Promote Physical Wellness Encourage youth to engage in regular physical activity through running and movement, building habits that support long-term health and connection to land.
- Strengthen Mental & Emotional Well-Being Support youth in building confidence, resilience, and positive coping skills through mentorship and culturally grounded wellness practices.
- Foster Cultural Identity & Spiritual Connection Create space for youth to engage with Native running traditions, identity, and values through reflection, storytelling, and community-based experiences.
- Build Positive Relationships & Community Connection Develop teamwork, communication, and a sense of belonging through shared movement and group experiences.
- Develop Youth Leadership & Role Models Train Native young adults as facilitators and mentors, creating a leadership pipeline that empowers youth to give back to their communities.
- Increase Access to Opportunities Reduce barriers by providing free programming, mentorship, and access to events, resources, and supportive networks.
- Encourage Lifelong Healthy Habits Instill routines and behaviors that support sustained physical, mental, and overall well-being beyond program participation.
